Quality Mark
Economic Service Quality Mark Beef Council Out Working for Beef

The Quality Mark has been a tremendous success in giving New Zealand consumers of meat, confidence in knowing when they buy beef or lamb with the Quality Mark on that they will have a good eating experience.

The Quality Mark advisory committe, of which I am Chairman is a unique representation of the total industry value chain.  It has membership from representatives of farmers, the processing industry, local market wholesale/distributors, butchers and supermarket chains and consumers.

The job of the committee is to recommend to Meat New Zealand, the rules and regulations that govern the Quality Mark and how it is used.  Is the mark allowed on certain product or should the level of PH 5.8 as a minimum standard in beef be lowered?  These are some of the things that the committee works through after taking account of market research and other advice.
